Program
Description:
|
The International Foster Care program (IFC) provides a safe,
nurturing foster care environment for children who have fled their countries
of origin. This comprehensive set of services includes education, legal, social
and psychological supports all directed at achieving safety, stability and
healthy development.
Children come to us as refugees, victims of trafficking and
asylees from around the world, including the following countries of origin:
Vietnam, Cambodia, China, the Sudan, Myanmar and Central America (El
Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala).

Position
Description:
|
Accompany
immigrant children approved for family reunification on airline travel. Flights are to various points in the United
States, many of which are on the east coast.
Must be able to quickly learn and become comfortable with family
reunification documentation, able to check sponsor’s identification and
collect necessary signatures at point of reunification. It is anticipated that each round trip to
the east coast will consist of flying to destination one day, transferring
custody at destination airport, one overnight stay in a hotel (not with
child) near the airport, and one day to fly back to Seattle International
Airport. Must be able to adjust to
changes such as flight delays, or other unanticipated situations due to
inclement weather.

Essential
Functions:
|
· Ensure child’s
safety is maintained at all times during travel.
· Verify sponsor’s
government issue I.D. at time of reunification.
· Communicate
(usually in Spanish) with sponsor using cell phone to notify when plane has
landed, and the gate, terminal or baggage claim location.
· Review
documentation with sponsor, and answer questions appropriately (usually in
Spanish)

Job Requirements:
|
·
AA degree or equivalent college/work experience.
·
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
·
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. (carryon baggage)
·
Must be able to navigate airport terminals, including
transferring flights when necessary.
·
Experience working with immigrant children between the
ages of 5 and 12 and do not speak
English
·
Applicant must successfully pass required background
checks prior to an offer of employment.
· Must have reliable
transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and provide
current auto registration.
· Must have an
acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy. (required to provide
current driving abstract)
· Proof of negative
TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months.
·
First/Aid CPR certified or the ability to become
certified within the 1 month of employment.
·
Demonstrates the necessary
attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and
work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
· Support
