Starting Salary/Hourly Rate: $15.89-17.54 DOE + $1800 annual stipend

Program Description:
The Family Preservation System provides an integrated and flexible array of strengths-based services and supports centered around one predominant belief: Children need their families and families need their children. All services are delivered with the following core values in mind: safety of the child, family and community; flexible and responsive; family driven; normative; family oriented; strengths based; comprehensive and collaborative; unconditional; individualized; and culturally relevant.

Position Description:
Provide one-on-one support to high-risk children/youth and their families in the home and community. Includes the provision of supervision for safety, assistance in accessing and participating in community activities, and mentoring and coaching positive social skills. Their work will follow a plan of care for each child and family under the direction of a CCS Therapist. They will work with a primary caseload of clients assigned by the CSS Supervisor. They will act as primary skill builder assisting with the identification and implementation of appropriate activities to address lagging skills and will attend child and family meetings for clients on their caseload. Work as a team member with other professionals. Position requires 24/7 on-call availability.

Essential Functions: 
* Receive assignment and solicit feedback from referring co-worker about planned activities.
* Introduce themselves and the activity plans for the day to the family. * Participate in individual service and support plan development upon request.
* Adapt and modify activity to fit the immediate situation and/or family feedback. * Provide structure and support within the agreed upon activity.
* Model and teach appropriate behavior and skills.
* Provide direct supervision and redirection of children.
* Connect and introduce youth/family to community resources in their own community.
* Identify and access positive relationship for the child and family.
* Identify situations that require other CCS supports to assure prompt, effective and appropriate response.
* De-escalate and manage situations until other responders can arrive.
* Seek assistance and report incidents to the right people at the right time.
* Focus on successes experienced during activity or time with family just completed.
* Communicate and summarize to the family and referring co-workers about completed activities and observations.
* Assess for immediate safety and stabilization needs.
* Support family during stabilization by providing rest, relief and safety.
* De-escalate risky situations safely, effectively and confidently.
* Analyze and assess environmental and personal situations in work with families as it relates to safety, basic needs, unmet needs and other areas.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Age 21 or older per DHS requirements.
* Qualified Mental Health Associate. Oregon requires applicants to be a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA).
Requirements for QMHA are defined under the current OAR as either A or B:
* Experience: A combination of three years’ experience, work, education or training revolving around child mental health, child development and/or social skill development.
* Education: a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in the behavioral sciences field. And: Communicate effectively, understand mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology and to apply the concepts, provide psychology skills development, and implement interventions as assigned on an individual plan of care.
* Demonstrated ability to provide skill building services to youth.
* Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance and clean driving record.
* Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.
* Ability to work effectively within a team.

* Associates or Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field.
* Knowledge of sexually/physically aggressive youth and their needs.
* Knowledge of family systems and child development.
