POSITION DETAILS:
The employees in our Clerical Pool are strictly in an on-call status. Work
assignments may be intermittent or up to several weeks in length, as
needed. Employees may be assigned work in any City location.
Because the clerical pool is of a temporary nature, clerical pool employees do not receive City benefits of paid leave, holiday pay, or health insurance. On-call employees may be eligible for retirement system benefits.
This is on-call work of a routine clerical/secretarial nature filling in for regular City employees who are temporarily absent or to provide additional clerical support to complete special short-term projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES Work generally involves answering telephones and interacting with the public as the
receptionist; photocopying materials; distributing mail; filing a variety of material according to established department procedures; archiving materials and physically moving boxes to appropriate area; and word processing or typing correspondence, reports and forms.
Work assignments may involve data entry or cashiering; performing recordkeeping or more advanced bookkeeping functions; using computers for word processing, data entry and spreadsheet assignments; transcribing from dictation equipment; processing purchase orders; and preparing time cards for payroll.
Deals tactfully and courteously with the public, coworkers, and other City employees, occasionally in difficult customer service situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer receptionist experience, word processing experience in a Windows environment, and knowledge of alpha/numeric filing systems.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Majority of work occurs indoors, however there may be some walking outdoors, in inclement weather. Walking throughout City Hall and other locations occasionally required. Use of computer keyboard requires ability to sit and view a computer monitor for up to two hours, as well as repetitive hand/arm movement.
