Student Assistance Specialist
Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD), a premier regional agency that provides innovative pre-K to 12 services and leadership, seeks a part-time Student Assistance Specialist to provide prevention and early intervention services to students in the Vashon Island School District. The Learning Support Services places Student Assistance Specialists in schools to implement comprehensive student assistance programs that address problems associated with substance use, violence and mental health issues.
PSESD is committed to become an anti-racist, multicultural organization, serving 35 school districts and more than 200 private schools in King and Pierce counties plus Bainbridge Island in Kitsap County. Approximately 38 percent of the state’s K-12 public school students are impacted by our work and several of our programs serve students throughout the state.
Minimum Qualifications
BA Degree in Education, Human Services, or related field (AA/AAS degree in job-related area PLUS CDP credential may substitute for BA degree)
CDP, CPP, ESA or Mental Health Certification
Experience working in a school-based program with emphasis on: violence prevention and/or early intervention, alcohol, tobacco and/or other drug prevention and early intervention, and/or mental health
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with school-based student assistance programs or youth-based educational support groups
Experience working with community-based coalitions
Presentation experience
Position based in Vashon School District. Work Schedule: School schedule (~8 hours/day; 184 days/year – total ~1,472 hours/year).
