Program
Description: Foster Care Program actively recruits and licenses married couples and single adults who are willing to open their hearts and homes and provide temporary care for foster children. Some children need a home for one day, others one week, and still others may need care for a year or more. Pediatric Interim Care (PICS) is a program of Catholic Community Services Southwest. PICS provides specialized foster care, as well as home based support services for drug-exposed infants and their families. Since 1990, PICS has provided intervention and support services to over 1000 children and their families.
Position
Description: The Family Visitation Specialist will provide family support services by transporting infants and children for visits with their birth families, monitoring and supervising those visits, and documenting observations of that contact.
Essential
Functions: In consultation with PICS and Foster Care Case Managers– * Assist with transportation of infants/children for visits with their families. * Monitor and supervise visits between infant/child and birth family. * Document observations of the quality and content of the contact between child(ren) and family during visits. * Cooperate with case plans and participate in meetings as requested. * Report suspected child abuse to supervisor and/or CPS as requested and provide a written incident report. * Notify case manager and/or supervisor of any significant event with a foster child or foster home (i.e. injury that requires medical attention, running away, physical assault, use of restraint) and provide a written incident report * Testify in dependency or termination court hearings as necessary. * Notify case manager or supervisor within 24 hours if unable to perform assigned shift * Maintain client confidentiality * Other duties as may be reasonably assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: * Must be at least 21 years old; AND * High school diploma or GED; AND * Two years documented experience with children and families in the following settings: o Department of Early Learning licensed in-home facility based daycare; o School setting; o A child placing agency or residential care program; o Conducting Supervised visits; o Working as staff directly with children and families in a community service organization such as the YMCA or sports program; OR o Licensed as a foster parent with two (2) years’ experience caring for dependent children with skills necessary to provide supervised visits. OR * AA degree in Human Services or relevant field or two (2) years of completed coursework toward Bachelor’s degree; AND * One (1) year documented experience directly working with children and families in
the following settings; o Department of Early Learning licensed in-home facility based daycare; o School setting; o A child placing agency or residential care program; o Conducting Supervised visits; o Working as staff directly with children and families in a community service organization such as the YMCA or sports program; OR o Licensed as a foster parent with one (1) year experience caring for dependent children with skills necessary to provide supervised visits. OR * Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field; AND * Six months of documented experience directly working with children and families in the following settings; o Department of Early Learning licensed in-home facility based daycare; o School setting; o A child placing agency or residential care program; o Conducting Supervised visits; o Working as staff directly with children and families in a community service organization such as the YMCA or sports program; OR o Licensed as a foster parent with six (6) months experience caring for dependent children with skills necessary to provide supervised visits. AND All Parent Child Visit Service Worker must have: * Clearly documented skills and knowledge in the areas of child safety, problem-solving and crisis intervention that is clearly documented on the individual’s resume; * Current certification in first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); and * Completion of a minimum of two hours of instruction on blood borne pathogens in the past five years. * At least two written references from prior employer(s) supervisor of volunteer work or internship supervisor documenting his or her skills in working with children; or if a licensed foster parent, at least two written references documenting his or her skills in working with children. These must be retained in the personnel file of the employee, subcontractor, or volunteer. * Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment. * Proof of negative TB test within past 12 months and ability or test within first six months of employment. * Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and provide current auto registration. * Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy, (required to provide current driving abstract). * Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services. * Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork. * Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations. Preferred Qualifications: * BA in Social Services or relevant field. * Experience working with infants and children with special needs and their families. * Experience in the social service or mental health field. * Experience with people with developmental disabilities. * Knowledge of community resources.
