Description:

Drexel House provides a continuum of housing care in a safe environment that fosters respect and dignity, with an emergency shelter for 16 men, 25 low-income affording furnished studio apartments for men and women transitioning into permanent housing, and 10 permanent low-income affordable furnished studio apartments for chronically homeless and disabled men and women. At Drexel House, we serve homeless men and women who are the poorest and most vulnerable, living on the streets, in forests, and in abandoned buildings and cars. Case management, referrals, transportation and supportive services are provided on-site.
Position
Description:

Drexel House is a multi-housing program facility for currently and formerly homeless individuals with a 16 bed emergency men’s shelter, 25 transitional studio apartments, 10 permanent studio apartments and a one bedroom apartment that is not program based. The Resident Coordinator will have access to all buildings and will provide on-site monitoring for all residents/clients. The Resident Coordinator will direct the residents/clients to the proper individuals to address concerns. The individual in this position will be responsible for facility upkeep including light janitorial and cleaning duties (mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces). This position is supported by and answers directly to the Housing Manager.
Essential
Functions: * Staff the front desk to include answering the phone, authorizing access to clients and guests, and monitoring the security of both buildings. * Monitor and enforce the program policies with residents, clients, and visitors. * Conduct safety & perimeter checks of all entrances, exits, and the entire property gounds. * Maintain facility upkeep by the laundering of sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets for the emergency shelter. * Inform appropriate personnel of problems with operation of appliances, plumbing, heating and electrical systems to ensure site remains safe and operational. * Maintain order and communicate/enforce rules and policies. * Maintain an atmosphere conducive to a good night’s rest for the emergency shelter. * Provide resident services and information. * Work with and support volunteer staff and interns. * Responsible for providing back up if shift staffing levels require. * Responsible for coordinating transportation needs for residents of the facility as well as the Case Manager and Housing Manager’s schedules.

Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma or G.E.D. * Experience in social service is desirable; personal experience and understanding of homeless population may be substituted. * Valid WA State driver’s license and current driving abstract indicating clean driving record. * Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range varying behaviors. * Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations. * Willingness and ability to make sound judgments without onsite supervision
