SOCIAL JUSTICE AMERICORPS POSITION

This opportunity requires YOU to study and practice changing yourself, and to work collectively in a strong team.
Serve with a team of civil rights educators, organizers. Receive training in nationally renowned nonviolence leadership education. Organize youth and adults to educate and liberate!
Individuals of all educational and social backgrounds encouraged to apply.
STRENGTHS NECESSARY: • Ability to smile • Capacity to unplug from the iabuse and overuse of technology • Authentic curiosity • Capacity to receive criticism with love and appreciation • Capacity to offer criticism to others with love and appreciation • Capacity to develop your other interestedness • Capable of serving in a fast paced environment that requires honesty, punctuality, and the ability to turn on a dime • Practice or capacity to develop the ability to think and act dialectically, and learning understanding the primary economic, political and cultural struggles in the nation and around the world. • The desire and capability to coach other adults and students in ways that uplift and strengthen their capacity to develop self-control, and learn how to learn
UNACCEPTABLE WEAKNESSES • Inability to smile even under stress or discomfort • Inability to "hear" the thoughts of others • Resume building • Unable to live sustainably on the planet • Unable to live a life-style dedicated to civic engagement • Inability to keep your word, be transparent, and work in a team • Inability to serve with individuals and communities from races, classes and political beliefs that are different than your own
While no previous experience is necessary, candidate must be willing to study and practice the same classes and methods that the organization provides youth and families.
MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE AND INSURED VEHICLE. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO SERVE WEEKENDS DUE TO CIVIC ENGAGEMENT EVENTS.
Must be available for occasional travel for professional development or events. Must possess the listed strengths and can overcome listed weaknesses to apply. Applicants needing to have or keep another job need not apply. Position contingent on funding.
