Job Description
Overview:
The North American Environmental Program Manager will be responsible for partnering with the NAFCs in our Fulfillment Network to perform environmental performance analysis, develop network standards and policy and implementation of the Amazon environmental standards. This position will be responsible for overseeing and executing environmental programs at the corporate level and ensuring overall environmental compliance performance strategies.

The NA Environmental Program Manager must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. The NA Environmental Program Manager will be required to possess excellent environmental regulatory and program knowledge and demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations.
Responsibilities:
· Provide ‘single-point of contact’ to the site teams for understanding existing and developing environmental regulations and regulatory activity (compliance of new technologies with applicable codes and standards).
· Manage and oversee compliance with Federal, State and Local environmental and DOT regulations and Amazon policy. This includes solid waste, hazardous waste, storm water, air, risk management.
· Responsible for submitting time critical reports to various governmental agencies to document compliance.
· Provide environmental guidance and oversight to other Amazon.com groups.
· Oversee work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees
· Develop environmental performance metrics
· Conduct thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports
· Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and administer multiple complex & technically complex assignments concurrently.
· Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with industry, community, and professional associations to maintain and develop professional relationships, stay abreast of latest developments, and share good practices with other environmental professionals.

Basic Qualifications
  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study.
  • 5+ years’ experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager
  • Experience with RMP, Tier II, hazardous waste, Stormwater, DOT, GRI Reporting
  • Experience developing environmental policies and program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Should possess or be working towards recognized professional certification in environmental or engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with the FCs safety and leadership teams
  • Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization is a plus
  • Experience developing environmental management systems; e.g. ISO 14001
  • Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
