Join us on the second Thursday of every month for our Alumni Speakers Series. A distinguished UW Tacoma alum will be on campus to talk about their professional journey and perspective on leadership. After the talk, we’ll continue the conversation over a beverage and a few snacks.
Our second guest will be Indira Trejo (see bio below), a graduate of the Politics, Philosophy and Economics program and now Global Impact Coordinator at United Farm Workers. The evening will be moderated by UW Tacoma student and Vice President of the Black Student Union, Fleciah Mburu.

Speaker Bio
Indira Trejo is currently working for the United Farm Workers (UFW) team as the Global Impact Coordinator. She joined the UFW after graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a minor in Human Rights from UW Tacoma.
She was born in Riverside, CA and raised in a small town in Veracruz, Mexico. She worked for six years in the insurance industry, and later took time off from her career to complete her bachelor’s degree. During her studies, she discovered her dedication and enthusiasm for human rights and justice. As a result, she founded the Latino Student Union (LSU) at UWT, in which she helped to empower and organize students, bringing them together, engaging them in discussions, and putting forward innovative ideas about issues that impact Latinos in our communities including immigrant labor rights.
Her passion, competence and spirit bring new ideas to the UFW team, helping to improve the lives and working conditions of farms workers globally. Indira currently resides in Tacoma, WA with her mom Maria, and her dog Xuxa.
Proudly co-hosted by Alumni Relations, Career Development, and Student Fellowships & Awards.
