UW Undergraduate - Summer Jobs

 Washington Sea Grant funded research project to restore native Olympia oyster populations in Puget Sound.

The specifics

§  10-20 hours per week from June – September, mostly concentrated in late June through mid-August.
§  Will have an expectation of availability over summer. Ideally, you would not be taking classes or have another job during the time you are working on the project. If you need to take classes or maintain a separate job, we will need to make a prior agreement about your commitment to this work.
§  Possibility of continuing work for credit in fall and beyond.

Looking for

§  Students who are excited to learn about marine biology and are passionate about marine conservation. This is the key requirement.
§  Preference will be given to:
§  Students already working in my lab (but no experience necessary).
§  Students who are interested in working on this project beyond this summer.
§  Students who would like to use this project to move them towards their career goals (ex. graduate school, agency work, education, or something related in some way).
§  Students from traditionally under-represented groups in the sciences are encouraged to apply.
§  Students will be encouraged to apply for additional funding through scholarships (ex. Mary Gates, Mary Cline). Students will also be encouraged to present their work to an outside audience.
