The Information Technology and Business Integration (ITBI) division is recruiting for an IT Security Analyst Intern.  This internship is expected to last three months.

This position assists the agency in helping Washington's workers and employers succeed in the global economy by protecting sensitive data, ensuring compliance with laws and policy, and preventing disruptions to operations. Security Analysts use network security monitoring and log management tools to monitor security sensors and firewalls, network devices, network intrusion detection systems, host based intrusion detection systems, and anti-malware systems. They analyze security information to identify the probability and potential severity of events and unusual activity. Security Analysts research potential security incidents to determine whether an incident response is required.
This internship will focus on one of three tracks:
  • Basic digital forensics
  • Developing security information tools using Visual Studio, Entity Framework, and C#
  • Security governance and policy development
Learning will be accomplished through textbooks, video training, and discussions with staff.  Knowledge will be demonstrated through written response papers and through completion of hands on exercises. As skills are gained, the intern will work with staff on routine security activities.
