Development and Prospect Research Specialist

Schedule: Part-Time (20 hours/week)
Reports to: Director of Development and Marketing
Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: Commensurate with experience

The Development and Prospect Research Specialist is a new position at Lighthouse Christian School which will provide administrative and prospect research and management support to the development department. Position responsibilities include the following:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

* Born-again Christian and credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures. Active member of an evangelical Trinitarian church;
* Accepts and supports the school’s statement of faith and indicates a continuing sense of God’s direction in working at Lighthouse Christian School;
* High school diploma;
* The ability to work and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing ,with a wide variety of internal and external audiences;
* The ability to work independently, handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and problem solve;
* Commitment to helping the development office achieve challenging goals while caring for the philanthropic needs of donors, protecting their privacy and supporting their vocation to steward the gifts God has entrusted to them.
* Highly developed organizational and time management skills, and a strong attention to detail;
* Superior computer skills, including:
o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.
o The interest in, and ability to become, a skilled user of Auction Tracker software

Desired Qualifications and Skills
* A bachelor’s degree;
* Two years of experience in development and/or prospect research, or the equivalent in a combination of education and experience;
* Experience with the Raiser’s Edge relational database;
* Proficiency with electronic data aggregators such as Lexis Nexis, real estate assessment systems, Foundation Center and/or GuideStar, and products that collect public and private company data.








Administrative and Event Support:
* Enter gifts into the constituent database and reconcile gift receipts with the school’s finance department;
* Draft acknowledgement letters to donors;
* Track and mail pledge reminders;
* Update Auction software with current donor information and new prospects
* Complete basic office tasks, including: copying, scanning documents and filing;
* Provide support through all phases of Lighthouse Christian School’s annual events, including pre-event preparation and post-event stewardship of donors and attendees;
* Other duties as assigned.

Prospect Research and Management:
* Analyze and synthesize financial data
* Collaborate with the Director of Development and Marketing to develop and implement prospect identification strategies;
* Utilize fee-based and free resources to complete information searches.
