Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound’s (BBBSPS) - Outreach & Communications Coordinator - King and Pierce County

Job Announcement:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound (BBBSPS) provides children facing adversity with strong and
enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the

Two Positions Available:
* King County (Seattle, eastside and surrounding)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is growing fast—we are restructuring and adding positions
rapidly. We need to hire individuals who can be brand ambassadors primarily to recruit more adults to
become mentors. Overall, the person in this position is responsible for cultivating corporate and
community partnerships to generate higher numbers of volunteer mentor and youth participants. The
coordinator will rely on face-to-face, electronic and social media, just to name a few, interactions with
partners. A successful candidate must be able to have an internal passion and drive to work
independently toward reaching recruitment, marketing and outreach goals, and implement strategies
to meet goals. It takes a persistent and organized individual to succeed in the position—so if you
believe that you want to harness your outreach and communications skills to change children’s lives for
the better, forever, then this might be a good fit. We are looking for someone who demonstrates an
understanding of branding while negotiating partnerships to get businesses engaged with Big Brothers
Big Sisters.

The successful candidate must demonstrate previous experience and success working toward complex
performance goals, preferably in relationship building, sales, marketing, public relations or other
community outreach areas.

Three key areas of responsibility:
* Consistently and persistently be visible in the business community to promote volunteer
mentor engagement and to increase significantly the number of potential mentors (and youth)
in our pipelines.
* Initiate new, and maintain existing, partnerships with volunteer-rich organizations leading to
long-term relationships with mutually beneficial results.
* Comfortably present to a variety of audiences in many different settings, including one-to-one
meetings and large audience presentations.

Our non-negotiables:
* Phenomenal customer service, presentation and organizational skills.
* Bachelor’s Degree required.
* 1-2 years’ experience in community organizing, recruiting, marketing, public relations, social &
human services, sales or a related field. * Demonstrated ability to perform in a goal-driven environment with comprehensive tracking and analytics tools. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising good judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills to achieve team goals. * Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in person and via the telephone, email and high level interviewing skills required. * Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment required. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel). * Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and access to a reliable automobile—daily driving involved. * Ability to work a flexible schedule to support special events and projects which may occur some evenings and weekends.
