This is a regular, full-time position responsible for graphic design, desktop publishing, delivery of multimedia services, audio visual systems support, and support for the City of Auburn and its customers to include, but not limited to, assisting in video production services; coordinating outsourced print services, in-house print jobs, and the distribution of various materials produced by multimedia services; and leveraging technical and organizational skills to bridge the gap between multimedia services and our customer.
PRIMARY DUTIES *Primary contact for graphic design and publication layout for all printed and digital
material content based on knowledge of layout principles, City standards, and esthetic design concepts
*Develops graphics, logos, and illustrations for all multimedia mediums
*Assists with completing work requests for multimedia services and meets appropriate deadlines
*Assists with print shop services including, but not limited to, mail processing, copier and bindery service, and printing
*Advises customers of the most efficient methods of reproduction for particular work requests and makes recommendations for production improvements and priorities
*May assist in instructing, documenting, and teaching users how to properly operate and use audio visual equipment during council meetings, presentations, training events; and assists staff on offsite video and photo shoots
*Assists with video and production projects including, but not limited to, council meetings, City/City-sponsored event presentations, and various assigned camera and video production duties
*Assists with mailroom coverage, delivery, and associated tasks as necessary
*Expert user of Adobe Create Suites programs; specifically the latest versions of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Illustrator. Other programs desired but not necessary.
*Advanced knowledge of printing specifications, postal regulations concerning printed materials, periodical specifications, and best practices for output of materials based on medium (print, web, broadcast usage, etc.)
*Performs quality control and assurance on all multimedia products
*Operates all equipment in the print shop in a correct and safe manner
*Proofreads, edits, and formats written communications of others
*Creates correspondence, reports, forms, fliers, procedures, presentations, brochures, and marketing materials
*Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; uses correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
*Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
*Some early evening, night, and/or weekend work may be required
*Works effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions
*Completes work and projects in a thorough and timely manner
*Shows initiative in performing job functions
*Understands and follows directions from the supervisor, posted work rules, and procedures
*Performs related work as required
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited design or trade school and three (3) years of work-related experience that demonstrate the above knowledge, skills, and abilities; OR any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual’s knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the essential elements and responsibilities listed above.
Possesses and maintains a valid state driver's license throughout tenure of employment, without impending risk of loss at time of appointment.

The employee normally works indoors in a clean, climate-controlled workspace. The employee may occasionally work outdoors; sometimes in inclement conditions. The employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, feel, or handle writing utensils, computers, and office supplies which require repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movement. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distant, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position requires mental acuity to ensure thorough mental analysis of situations in a fast-paced environment. The employee is required to maintain confidentiality of information within the department. The employee is required to perform work in confidence and under pressure for deadlines, and is required to maintain professional composure, tact, patience, and courtesy at all times.
