Description:

In a structured classroom setting provide a variety of educational services designed to meet the unique needs of Unaccompanied Alien children in federal custody. This position will be working 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. Subjects include Math, Science, Computer Literacy, Nutrition and PE.
Essential
Functions: * Provide a comfortable, secure environment to meet the emotional, social, intellectual needs of immigrant foster youth ages 6-12 years. * Work with a team that provides a learning environment that reflects student’s accomplishments while using materials that reflect cultural diversity. * In coordination with the Educational Coordinator, develop academic curriculum in accordance with the Division of Children’s Services (DCS) policy/procedure manual; review and update when necessary. * Develop daily lesson plans along with teaching materials that are age appropriate, with focus on grade school level creative writing, nutrition, PE, social studies, science and math. * Follow program Policy/Procedure guidelines outlined in our manual. * Attend weekly staff meetings with the International Foster Care team. * Document weekly children’s accomplishments, goals and/or concerns on weekly education summaries. * Meet with Program Supervisor for training/support and supervision. * Communicates directly and effectively with other team members. * Access student’s achievements on a continuous basis with case managers. * Responsible for maintaining a workplace, which values and supports a culturally diverse work environment. * Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * BA/BS in Early Childhood Development or related field. * Bilingual in Spanish. * Experience working with children, preferably immigrants, in a group setting or classroom. * Experience in curriculum development for children. * Knowledge of early childhood development. * Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment. * Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and provide current auto registration. * Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy, (required to provide current driving abstract) * Proof of negative TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months. * First/Aid CPR certified or the ability to become certified within the 1 month of employment * Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services * Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork * Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Certified teacher in the State of Washington or degree in Early Childhood Education.

Position requires you to work independently and as part of a team with case management responsibilities for children. Consultation, training, and advocacy are important components of this program as well as identify/approve potential sponsors for family reunification. Experience working with immigrant populations desirable. There will be some evening and weekend hours required.

Functions: * Identify and coordinate support services for children in Long-Term & Short Term foster care youth. * Assist in planning cultural preservation activities for all children in our care. * Assist with medical and mental health appointments for youth * Implement ORR/DCS federal contracts for children in Transitional (short-term) and Long Term Foster Care. * Complete intake paperwork for new arrivals to include; intake assessment/ educational assessment/individual service/safety plans for each child. Provide detailed documentation in case files/court reports. * Identify/approve sponsors for the family reunification process * Arrange for appropriate educational programs for long-term foster care youth; including English as a second language and bilingual programs. * Prepare the child for: * Family reunification; if possible * Independence and self-sufficiency * Immigration court hearings * Voluntary departure to country origin; if necessary * Monitor the adjustment of the child in foster care. * Collect and maintain all necessary records required for adequate program reviews and evaluation. * Participate in related trainings/attend weekly staff meetings. * Other duties as may be reasonably delegated by the supervisor.
Job Requirements: * BA/BS degree in social work or related field. * Must be Bi-lingual in Spanish. * Two years’ experience working with diverse populations; preferably with ethnic minorities and, or refugee populations. * Experience working in a child welfare setting. * Good written and oral communication skills. * Intermediate computer skills. * Ability to maintain accurate case files and other necessary client records. * Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment. * Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and provide current auto registration. * Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy, (required to provide current driving abstract) * Proof of negative TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months. * First/Aid CPR certified or the ability to become certified within the 1 month of employment. * Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services and a knowledge of and commitment to working within the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church. * Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork. Functions: * Provide transportation to various legal, medical, education and community appointments and events when case manager or foster parent is not available. Includes occasionally escorting children on flights to various airports in the U.S. for reunification with family. * In the absence of Case Managers, provide orientation to clients entering DCS foster care programs, including education on the foster care system, expectations, client rights and responsibilities, local, state and federal laws with focus on teen driving privileges/restrictions, alcohol/substances and dating norms, and Know Your Rights (legal) oral and DVD presentation. * Participate with team in planning cultural/recreation activities for children in care to include making phone calls or searching the internet to collect information, issuing reminders to foster parents and youth in care, interpreting event information and transporting youth whom case manager or foster parent cannot transport. * Work with team to ensure compliance to ORR/DCS federal contracts for children in Transitional (Short-Term) and Long Term Foster Care by calling and collecting required paperwork from foster parents, and sending reminders by either email or regular mail as directed by Case Manager or Supervisor. * Prepare new files with cover sheets, table of contents, and file tabs/inserts. Provide back-up to case managers in completing in-take paperwork/processing, including taking photos, and issue of program IDs. Prepare exit packets to include required information to sponsors including referrals to pro-bono attorneys or other legal organizations, information on Child/Abuse Neglect, Trafficking/Exploitation and PTSD Fact Sheets. Assist case managers with organizing and maintaining documentation in case files. * Monitor and document phone calls between children and approved sponsors and family members during the family reunification process when Case Managers and Teachers are not available. * Provide bilingual homework help to youth in LTFC in basic arithmetic (multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, simple graphs), and basic science (health/nutrition). Follow-through with educational plans as directed by case managers/foster parents for long-term foster youth in public school; including English as a second language, bilingual programs and access to higher level
tutoring for Math and Science. * Collect demographic and statistical data for program reviews, audits and evaluations as directed by leadership. * Participate in program trainings/attend weekly staff meetings. * Back-up Medical Coordinator by filling out new patient forms, giving correct claims submission information to service providers. Provide interpretation during medical appointments if Medical Coordinator is not available. Follow guidance given by CCS and program for compliance to HIPPA. * Serve as Substitute Bilingual Teacher for the STFC program. Follow Substitute lesson plans and guidance given by Education Coordinator or Program Manager in Teacher’s absence. * Other duties as may be reasonably delegated by the supervisor.

As the Communications Consultant 4, you’ll plan, direct and implement extensive communications and public relations campaigns concerning L&I’s services to LEP customers. You will be working with business areas across the agency to update Spanish-language glossaries for use by translation vendors and agency staff. You will also serve as a reviewer of translations produced by bilingual staff to ensure accuracy and consistency in the usage of commonly used agency terms.
Your support is critical to the agency’s goal of “Making it easy to do business with L&I” across agency divisions and programs.
Some of what you will do:
Oversee the implementation of an agencywide quality assurance process for document translation.
Review all content for the Spanish website.
Collaborate with division representatives to expand and continually update an English/Spanish glossary for commonly used terms at L&I.
Serve as the final reviewer of publications, template letters, media messaging and forms translated from English to Spanish.
Implement and monitor quality assurance processes for document translations.

Who should apply:
Bachelor’s degree in a social science or humanities.
Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Medical
Interpreter (includes both medical interpreter and medical certificated written test or
American Translator Association certification (English to Spanish). Certifications with a state or federal agency, other organizations including language agencies using the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) translation proficiency standards and/or an accredited institution of higher education may also be considered. Certification must be active and in good standing.
3 years’ minimum experience translating medical or health care-related documents.
Advanced writing skills in English and Spanish.
Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop communication strategies and plans to develop interest, engagement, and a commitment to making it easy for customers with limited English proficiency to do business with L&I. Desirable Qualifications
Experience managing contracts and vendor performance.
Experience translating legal documents.
Possess a legal translation credential in good standing with a state or federal court system, which includes successful completion of an examination or test of written language fluency in both English and Spanish.
Familiarity or a willingness to learn how to manage translation projects through SharePoint.
At least three years of experience living or working in a bilingual or multicultural environment.
