Description:
|
Catholic
Community Services, Homeless Adult Services (HAS) is the largest provider of
adult homeless services in Tacoma, Washington. Nativity House (NH), a program
of HAS, is the central hub to serve homeless adults in the Pierce County
region. It operates 24-hour/7-day a
week, offering services (emergency shelter, meals, systematic outreach, Rapid
Rehousing, Mental Health and Co-Occurring Disorder treatment, Employment
Services, Spiritual Support, 50 units of permanent supportive housing, etc.)
to meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

Position Description:
|
This staff member is responsible
for the overall coordination of the Employment Lab and will cultivate
business relationships within the greater Pierce County region that relate to
the program’s four focus areas. The Employment Navigator focuses on
strategies designed to make a difference in the lives of individuals with
multiple barriers to employment and economic self-sufficiency. As an
Employment Navigator, you will help program participants one-on-one and in
group settings increase their employability, find gainful employment, and
ultimately strengthen their financial stability.

Essential
Functions:
|
· Support participant
in ongoing development of Individualized Education and Career Plan from
interests and skills assessments with clear education and/or employment
goals, while identifying barriers and their solutions.
·
Do an Employability Assessment to determine clients’
strengths and areas of needed improvement.
· Support
participants who are approaching graduation from the Employment Lab with job
placement in the community.
· Track progress of
the Individualized Education and Career Plan and support participants while
facilitating advancement and career progression.
· Facilitate
workshops such as basic computer skills, resume writing, job search and
interviewing skills, as well as connect program graduates to potential
employers for job placement.
· Link participants
to community-based employment support services, education/training providers,
career and industry information, and employment opportunities.
· Remain current with
local job market and community resources.
· Provide support and
training one-to-one as well as small group settings as needed for success.
· Work
collaboratively with other HAS staff, local colleges, social services
providers, industry representatives, and employers to assist HAS guess with
successful reintegration back into the workforce.
· Recruit and
coordinate volunteers to support participants in their employment activities
·
Research prospective employers and identify the
potential for matching them with program participants
·
Assist team members with ongoing continuous quality
improvement to enhance program operations, including problem solving, helping
to develop program systems or procedures, or participating in team
workgroups.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
|
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·
Bachelor degree in Human Services, Social Work or a
related field; experience in related field will be accepted in lieu of
degree.
·
Minimum of two years of case management experience
working in social work, employment or human services.
·
Detail oriented and can perform organizational duties with
a high level of accuracy.
·
Demonstrate ability to manage and educate.
·
Demonstrate quality communication and listening skills.
·
Ability to support and maintain an environment that
honors cultural awareness and competency.
·
Ability to support the missions set forth by each
program and their parent organizations CCS/CHS as well as the mission of the
Catholic Church.
·
Applicant must successfully pass required background
checks prior to an offer of employment.
·
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license,
auto registration and automobile insurance.
·
Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving
policy, (required to provide current driving abstract)
·
Willingness to learn and work well in a team
environment.
·
Ability to work independently and as a member of a
team.
·
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and
skills, to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in
multi-cultural situations.
·
Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of
Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·
Masters degree in a psychology, social work, or related
field.
·
3–5 years’ experience with individuals experiencing
homelessness.
·
Knowledge and experience in faith-based settings.
·
Experience organizing schedules.
