POSITION DETAILS:
This is a non-benefited position
Variable hour employees are not eligible to receive any City benefits.
This is a variable hour position (approximately 20 hours per week) in the Parks, Arts and Recreation Division. The focus of this position is to oversee the Game Farm Park soccer fields and the Les Gove gymnasium that are rented for an event and to oversee/coordinate the requirements of that event pertaining to the facility and rental agreement. Position requires a great deal of customer service both before and during the event.
Work schedule will be evenings and weekends in support of the events.
PRIMARY DUTIES Ensures facility is prepared for the event in accordance with the rental agreement.
Meets with the renter prior to the event to make sure expectations are agreed upon.
Reports any issues to the appropriate Parks, Arts and Recreation staff member in a timely manner.
Coordinates with the renter/designee throughout the event to unsure necessary requirements are completed; corrects issues as they are identified.
Opens, closes and secures facility; upon departure, ensures facility is left in an appropriate state of cleanliness and repair.
Collects entrance fees.
Ensure all youth participants have made ride connections.
Interface with Auburn School District bus drivers, personnel and parents Maintains and accounts for equipment.
Enforces department rules and regulations.
Effectively represents the department with the public and program participants.
Follows written and verbal instructions.
Attends training sessions required by the department.
May be required to perform First Aid and CPR.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Works effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
Completes work and projects in a thorough and timely manner.
Understands and follows directions from supervisor, posted work rules and procedures.
Works courteously and effectively with the public, citizens, supervisor, and other employees
Shows initiative in performing job functions.
Performs other work related tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school degree or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Works outdoors. Occasionally required to stand and reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or crawl. Position required mental acuity to ensure thorough mental analysis of situations in a fast-paced environment. Employee is required to maintain confidentiality of information within the department. WRITER (PART-TIME)
KIRO-TV is looking for a part-time News Writer. Qualified candidates must have a college degree. Prior experience in broadcast television is strongly preferred. This provides an opportunity for ambitious, hardworking candidates to be trained in newscast production. Applicants must be willing to work any shift.
NEWS PRODUCER
KIRO-TV has an opening for a creative, dynamic producer to join our news staff. This person must be able to take charge of a newscast, make strong news decisions and be able to coordinate many live shots and handle breaking news like a pro. This producer must be flexible and be able to write strong copy for TV and the web if necessary, coordinate with reporters and produce a newscast that is showcased. Qualified applicant should have a degree in broadcasting or related field and experience producing local television news.


ASSIGNMENT EDITOR (PART-TIME)
This individual is responsible for assignment desk news coverage on a variety of shifts, including weekends and overnights, and especially breaking news. The Assignment Editor will be a dynamic and energetic person who can help manage the news gathering process from the Assignment Desk. The person should break news stories, develop sources and communicate clearly. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: monitoring scanners, answering newsroom phones, making calls to people involved in news stories, dispatching field crews, and assisting other newsroom staff. The assignment editor is required to write and post breaking news stories to the newsroom website, KIROTV.com. This position will also be responsible for publishing social media updates to KIRO’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. The assignment editor must work well with other managers in achieving newsroom goals. Qualified applicants must demonstrate leadership. Other requirements include the ability to multi-task, strong computer skills, good news judgment, and ability to clearly communicate. Experience on major market assignment desk and some college is preferred. Knowledge of the Puget Sound region’s geography, politics and history is a definite plus.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages show producers and writers. The EP crafts the look, manages story count, flow and placement of every story. They set the coverage expectation and manage repetition. The EP manages our position and brand on a daily basis in every show. The EP manages breaking news and the speed and style in which we get it on the air. Assists in managing the schedules, hiring and firing of all writers and producers.
JOB DUTIES:
90% - Newscast & Brand Management
10% - Administrative
JOB TASKS:
Newscast & Brand Management – 90%
Crafts newscast look by working with the graphics department.
Manages story count and placement. Must be intimate with the rundown. Manage story count vs. big story coverage.
Copy edits all copy in the newscast. Ensures that it is on target with the research.
Set the coverage expectation by holding meetings with producers and conducting newscast critiques.
Manage repetition within newscasts and from newscast to newscast.
Ensures the product stays on brand. Holds producers accountable on story selection and ensures anchors and meteorologists stay on target with delivery
Manages breaking news. Ensures that we are on the air quickly. Monitors the execution in the control room. Facilitates drills to ensure talent is up to speed.
Holds writing seminars and trains new employees.
Administrative – 10%
Assists in scheduling, hiring, firing of all writers and producers.

NEWS ASSISTANT (PART-TIME)
This position assists producers and writers with ensuring the newscast gets on the air smoothly. General responsibilities include: printing, ripping and separating scripts, and operation of the teleprompter for live newscasts.
Applicants must have a positive, professional attitude. Some broadcast experience is preferred.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
The Account Executive is responsible for generating media revenues for the assigned market to meet or exceed predetermined goals.
